10 Rock Albums That Haven't Aged Well At All

2. Just Push Play - Aerosmith

After going through the first half of the '90s, Aerosmith had seemed to unlock the secret to rock and roll immortality. As much as they should have been dead in the water after Joe Perry and Steven Tyler fell out in the early '70s, their reunion in the '80s made for one of the greatest success stories in rock history, avoiding the grunge wave altogether and getting their first #1 hit in 1998 with I Don't Want to Miss A Thing. Then Steven Tyler got an idea, and it would haunt the band in the first few years of the '00s.

Looking to capitalize on the success that came with their soundtrack song, Just Push Play feels like the band just trying to ride the coattails of what they've already done, with more than a few songs sounding like a re-run of I Don't Want To Miss a Thing. When they aren't repeating themselves though, some of the production choices on here really don't hold up well, with the glittery production that should have been reserved for a Britney Spears record from around the same time.

By the time the rest of the band got to the end of the album cycle, it seemed like they knew they had a dud on their hands as well, with the Girls of Summer music video not even having any other members of the band present except for Steven Tyler. Success might be a powerful drug for every other artist, but once you get that first taste, there's no limit to how low you will stoop to to get that magic again.
