10 Rock Albums That Killed Artists' Careers

1. Let It Be - The Beatles

Any other band should consider themselves lucky if they made an album like Abbey Road to close out their career. After years of creative differences and business dealings, the Beatles came together for one last album and showed their audience just how creative they could be up until the end of their days. Except...Abbey Road wasn't the last Beatles album. No, that accolade goes to Let It Be, which is the reason why the band hated each other.

With most of these sessions recorded before Abbey Road, Let It Be was absolutely painstaking for the band to make, from disagreements about their direction to being filmed for a documentary that showed them casually insulting each other's work. Even when bringing in a top tier producer like Phil Spector to soothe things over, the band were still unhappy with the final product, with Paul McCartney putting out Let It Be...Naked in the early '00s that was mixed that way he would have wanted it.

That's not to say that the album still isn't stellar though, with the rootsy rock of songs like I've Got A Feeling playing off beautifully against the more heartbreaking moments like the title track. Compared to the more forgettable records on this list, this killed the Beatles' career in the most general sense. Once you heard this, you knew that the Fab Four were never going to make the magic happen ever again.
