10 Rock Albums That Peak With The Final Song

1. Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles

When you're putting together an album that many will consider to be the best of all time, you'd better bring your A material for the closer.

And that's precisely what The Beatles did in 1967.

For their seminal record Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the Fab Four pulled out all the stops in crafting something special to round the piece off. The end result was A Day in the Life - a truly special song.

What makes this song so good is that it combines the best parts of the band's two main songwriters.

John Lennon's section - the "I read the news today" bit - is his poetic reflections on modern life. As for the part crafted by Paul McCartney - the "woke up, fell out of bed" section - that's Macca doing what he does best - musing on everyday life with a melodical ear.

George Harrison and Ringo Starr played their parts too, but come on.

There's far more to this song than can be covered here, but there's no doubt in our minds that it's the greatest thing the greatest band ever did.

Although, When I'm Sixty-Four is pretty cute.

Nope, sticking with this one.
