10 Rock Albums That Were A Nightmare To Make
5. One By One - Foo Fighters
The start of the Foo Fighters' career left little to the imagination. Since Dave Grohl was already a star based on his time in Nirvana, his next musical outfit after Kurt Cobain's demise gained traction almost immediately. However, when your group is that young, that also means fans will see your dirty laundry in real time.
By the time the Foos reached the '00s, everyone seemed to be at each other's throats. After losing 2 guitar players and a drummer over the course of 3 years, Grohl took a break from the Foos and decided to go on tour with Queens of the Stone Age. Rather than be the recharge everyone needed, there was some animosity brewing between Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins, with Hawkins feeling like Grohl had left them out to dry. That kind of tension came out in spades when going in to cut One by One, with every session showing the band wasting money on some of their most half-assed material.
After a brief stint on the road, Hawkins and Grohl were eventually able to iron things out, but things got more complicated once they got home. With a million dollars' worth of material already recorded, Grohl decided to start from scratch and cut all the tracks in his basement, which gave them one of their biggest hits in All My Life. Despite the more tense album sessions of rock and roll, not many albums hold the title of being so hard that they had to be recorded it twice.
