9. Closure/Continuation - Porcupine Tree

Following the release of their tenth album The Incident, British prog rockers Porcupine Tree were going through a... prickly time.

Sorry, that was bad.

Frontman Steve Wilson felt constrained by the limitations of the band and decided that he wanted to spend more time working on his own stuff. He did this and then some, spending 2011 recording and releasing one solo album and another album for one of his side projects.

This guy has absolutely nailed procrastinating.

Feelers were put out for another Porcupine Tree album in 2012, but then Wilson went and recorded a third studio album instead. He fell out massively with his fellow members over this and it felt as if maybe the group was done for good.

After many years of back and forth, the band came out and said that they were not only releasing a new album, but it was already done! They'd finished it off in secrecy in Autumn 2021 and were just going to drop it out of nowhere!

From start to finish, Closure/Continuation took over ten years to complete. Was it worth the wait? 71% on Metacritic, so...
