10 Rock Albums That You MUST Listen To In Full

6. Nevermind - Nirvana

People tend to forget what a damn wasteland rock had to offer in the early '90s. Long before the alternative wave really came in and hit, what most rock fans had to chew on was either the dying gasps of hair metal or classic acts trying to make a bid for the big time again. Even though rock was in need of an upgrade, no one could have predicted it would come from a gangly guy in a flannel shirt.

Opening up with the colossal Smells Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana's Nevermind was the one record that announced the new generation of rock fans going forward. Though that one song is enough to merit a listen to this album alone, every track on this thing is a crash course on how to make a hard-hitting rock song. Contrary to his reputation for writing stupid lyrics, songs like In Bloom are stunning critiques by Kurt Cobain at his own fanbase, while Polly provides a stern look at the dangers that come from being tortured.

Even if you just want to turn your brain off, the wordless chorus of something like Lithium is still enough to make you feel it all the way through. Up until the last track Something in the Way, this album spoke to every kid who ever felt left out or alone in their lives. It's okay to be vulnerable, because it's what makes us human.
