10 Rock Artists That Tried To Destroy Their Career

5. George Harrison

There's only four people that have existed on this Earth who really know what it was like to go through the whirlwind of Beatlemania. Even if the attention of being some of the biggest musicians in the world may have felt great, there comes a point when the Fab Four wanted that kind of madness to stop, with fans waiting with baited breath for every single record they put out. If it effected the personable people like Paul McCartney, you can only imagine how hard it was on the Quiet One.

Although George Harrison burst onto the scene as a solo star with his triple album All Things Must Pass, he wasn't really willing to play the game of being a rock star in the traditional way. As much as some albums like Living in the Material World gave us a look at the spiritual man that he had become after the Beatles' breakup, the different touring gigs took their toll on him, to the point where he didn't perform all that often after the Dark Horse tour.

The label still wanted albums though, and George always seemed to have a bit of a testy relationship with them, never wanting to be rushed into making something that he didn't want to do and putting out records like Gone Troppo almost to troll the record company with songs that weren't anywhere near the standards of Here Comes the Sun. By the time he hit his stride with the Traveling Wilburys, George had made some sort of peace with the record industry. He loved playing music with his friends, but he was always going to do it on his terms.
