10 Rock Band Reunions That REALLY Didn't Work

7. Other Voices - The Doors

It was going to be impossible for the Doors to continue on without Jim Morrison at the helm. While he might not have been the most impressive singer in the world, The Lizard King's stage presence and poetic approach to lyrics were irreplaceable, and any other singer coming in would have been a smack in the face to any Doors fan. So the rest of the guys didn't attempt to replace Morrison, and then made everything worse on Other Voices.

Though a lot of these songs existed as jams from back when Jim was alive, the lack of his charisma just makes the whole band sound tired, especially with Ray Manzarak not being the greatest singer to fill Jim's shoes. Just when you think a song like Tightrope Ride could work in some capacity, the whole thing is undercut by giving you nothing but meat and potatoes rock and roll, which makes most of these songs feel a lot longer than they actually are.

Even if you thought that Morrison's writing was a bit too esoteric back in the early days, it definitely beats a song like I'm Horny I'm Stoned, which feels like one of the more meatheaded songs to come out of the Summer of Love era of rock and roll. There have been many great Doors songs that will go down as classics for rock and roll, but when you take Jim out of the equation, these guys basically just become another lousy jam band.
