10 Rock Bands That Were Successful After Major Lineup Changes

5. Genesis

The genesis of Genesis took place in 1967 when vocalist Peter Gabriel and keyboardist Tony Banks combined their school bands. They initially had more of a pop sound before moving into the progressive rock category. Their debut album "From Genesis To Revelation" was released in 1969 to little interest. The band has basically disowned the record entirely, and with good reason. Peter Gabriel would remain with the band for their first 6 albums, up until the concept record "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway". Phil Collins, who joined the band on drums in 1970 eventually took over lead vocal duties. Gabriel would go on to have a fairly accomplished solo career while Genesis, with Collins at the helm would enjoy their biggest success, including a free concert in Rome in front of a staggering 500,000 fans. They're one of the biggest bands of all-time, selling over 130 million album across the globe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pW68T84RLHw
