10 Rock Bands That Almost Killed Each Other In The Studio

8. Brand New Eyes - Paramore

It's hard not to see Paramore as a vehicle for Hayley Williams at the best of times. Though the sound of Williams solo sounds very different than her main outfit, the raw talent and songwriting expertise on every one of their albums feels like an extension of her soul. Then again, when one member starts getting too much attention, some bruised egos tend to boil over.

After coming off of the mammoth album Riot and having respectable hits like Misery Business, the brothers Farro started to really butt heads with the rest of the group over their future direction, which turned into open hostility when they actually went to play their instruments. As such, most of Brand New Eyes' pop direction almost feels like a way to cover up the inner turmoil that's happening on the surface.

While songs like the Only Exception definitely have an optimistic outlook on love, the rest of the record has a bit of a different tune, with Ignorance possibly being about the dissolution of the group and Turn It Off practically sending off this lineup by saying "before it gets any better, we're heading for a cliff." On the other hand, people actually related to the raw wounds on display here, with Brand New Eyes being considered a high point in the group's catalog. The Farro brothers may not have lasted for too long afterward, but what everyone put into this recording is timeless.
