10 Rock Bands That Bounced Back From Bad Albums

2. Revolution Radio - Green Day

When going into the studio, a bad album can come from a bunch of different factors. Even though some bands may lose members in the shuffle or just not really be inspired at the time of writing, pinpointing the exact moment everything went wrong can never be traced back to one moment. In Green Day's case though, we did at least find out where things came to a head.

After releasing some of their most pedestrian releases consecutively with the Uno Dos Tre trilogy, Green Day gave one of the more disastrous performances of their career at the iHeart Radio festival, with Billie Joe storming off midway through the set after being told he only had one minute left. Entering rehab shortly afterward, things went pretty dark for these pop punk icons until they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

Going back into the studio after some downtime, Revolution Radio was the return to form that many people were waiting for since the American Idiot days, with Armstrong writing from a much more personal place than he ever had before. The single Still Breathing alone is enough to save the album, being a true story of redemption from a band that was once down for the count. Even though disasters like the Trilogy can kill most bands, Green Day somehow managed to find the strength to pick themselves up and keep moving.
