10 Rock Bands That Defined The 2000's

4. Linkin Park

Nu-metal has been given a bit of a nasty reputation as time passes. This mix of rap and metal is usually seen as either a bold evolution of genres or a wretched scourge on the face of the rock and rap industry. For all the bands that fueled this fire, Linkin Park was one of the few acts that were consistently great across the board.

The band took the unique approach of having a great clean singer and combining it with a rapper. Their lyrics also took on problems that extended beyond teen angst, such as self harm, depression, and emotional abuse. Guitarist Brad Delson's riffs served as the spine of the songs, but the showcase would always be the soaring vocals of Chester Bennington.

Joe Hahn's crisp production and soundscapes also gave the music an added depth, which worked to great effect when the band went for a more electronic sound on records like A Thousand Suns.

Unfortunately, the future of Linkin Park at this juncture is uncertain at best with the loss of Chester Bennington in 2017. But the talent of his fellow band members is still rock solid, and one can only hope that they will go on to greater feats in the near future.
