10 Rock Bands That Got Banned For Stupid Reasons
3. Dave Grohl's Australian Bender
When talking about the bad boys of rock and roll, Dave Grohl soooo does not belong in that company. Being one of the most down-to-earth guys in the history of rock, the genuine way in which Grohl interacts with his audience and fans has given Tom Hanks a run for his money in recent years. However, that didn't stop him from running into a tiny little mishap when the Foo Fighters got to Australia.
Yes...as much as we may hate to admit it, Good Guy Grohl actually has a criminal record down under, where he was arrested for driving while intoxicated a few days before a show. That's just the basis of the story though. As Dave tells it, he just had a beer shortly before going back to his hotel, which he traveled back to on a scooter. Stopped by law enforcement within a few feet from his hotel, Grohl was perceived to be intoxicated and booked into a local jail for a few hours.
After everything was sorted out, Grohl was slapped with a $400 fine and had his driving permit revoked in Australia for the next three months. This little dust-up did end up getting settled later down the line when Grohl wrote a song for miners in Beaconsfield who were trapped and used his music to calm themselves. Though Dave might be the world's nicest rockstar, sometimes it just comes down to being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
