10 Rock Bands That Had A Really Shaky Start
1. Foo Fighters
When it comes to inner band tension, most artists get to iron out their differences before they even reached the big time. Since no one's really examining your every move, the first steps of any artist can be a little unorthodox when starting out. When you were a part of one of the biggest bands in the world though, people have to take notice.
Once the first Foo Fighters album came out, Dave Grohl wasn't trying to turn it into a band, using it as a means to just make some music to pass the time while trying to get over the death of Kurt Cobain. Taking to the road to support it, most people started to recognize him, causing them to request the one Nirvana song Dave sang (Marigold) every time they played. It's one thing to get pushback from the fans though...it's another when it's in the group.
Over the course of albums like The Colour and the Shape, Dave ended up juggling band members, with William Goldsmith being replaced by Taylor Hawkins and Pat Smear being replaced by Franz Stahl and later Chris Shiftlett. It was never a hinderance to the music though, with this era being considered the golden period for the Foos' brand of high energy rock and roll. While the Foos may seem like one big rock and roll family now, the initial honeymoon period was a bit awkward to say the least.
