10 Rock Bands That Have Two Frontmen
7. Blink-182
After Green Day started the pop punk movement with Dookie back in the day, things were about to get a lot more snide going forward. Across every single stripe of rock radio, you couldn't escape the sounds of acts like Sum 41 or New Found Glory whenever they blared out over the radio. On the other side of things, Blink-182 managed to make their trade based on two larger than life personalities.
Compared to Billie Joe Armstrong's straight-forward frontman approach, things took a bit of a different turn with both Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus at the front. Operating very much independently, most of the songs in Blink's catalog were more or less just a culmination of both Hoppus' and DeLonge's ideas thrown together in a rapid style fashion. Aside from the occasional duet on tracks like I Miss You, most of the time each of them would end up delivering their own material, which had the exact combination of sophomoric humor and earnestness to register with the public.
Even when taking to the stage, both mens' chemistry played off each other insanely well, with Hoppus lower register being a perfect fit with DeLonge's more traditional whiny style of singing. Although the legacy continues on with Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba at the helm, Blink hasn't missed a beat and will continue to deliver their pop punk bliss for what's sure to be years to come.
