10 Rock Bands That Kept The Same Lineup

4. Queen

So...there's a 99% chance that people looking back on the music of Queen already get a picture of Freddie Mercury in their mind's eye. It's not really that hard to see why either, considering Mercury's turn as one of the greatest performers to ever walk the Earth. However, a lot of people forget that when it came to the records, these rock monarchs were a lot more of a democracy than you realize.

While most of Mercury's first stabs at songwriting turned into massive hits, each member had their own turn writing and singing on the rarest of occasion to suit the song's mood. Compared to Freddie's antics, Brian May's guitar was just as important in bringing the sound to perfection, creating classical symphonies out of his Red Special guitar. Taking almost the exact opposite approach, Roger Taylor's drumming and husky voice brought a sultriness to the sound, having the rock and roll attitude to give the group some street cred.

Out of all the bands on this list, Queen is also one of the only acts where each member has written a #1 hit, Mercury with Bohemian Rhapsody, May with We Will Rock You, Taylor with A Kind of Magic, and the resident recluse John Deacon making smashes like You're My Best Friend. Not many bands can claim to cover this many distinct styles at once, let alone making them this well.
