10 Rock Bands That Kept The Same Lineup
5. Jimi Hendrix Experience
If you had Jimi Hendrix in your band in the '60s, you really didn't need much else. Considering the amount of innovation his brought to the guitar alone in just a few years, the rock community would probably be considered lucky to even have him for how little that we actually did. Then again, having a frontman like that can only get there if he has the proper support to stand on.
Across the material that the Experience put out at the dawn of the '60s, the power behind Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell were some of the harsher sonic assaults of the modern age. While it was certainly daunting to have someone like Hendrix to work off of, Redding's intense bass lines and occasional backing vocals gave him much more of a presence than you might realize on first glance.
That was only the beginning of the intensity, with Mitchell matching Jimi step for step behind the kit, almost predicting the harsher assaults that would be coming down the line a bit later with the rise of hard rock and heavy metal. Much like Hendrix himself, the allure of the Experience was almost like a tapestry of sound unto itself, opening up your mind's eye and leaving before you really wanted it to stop.
