10 Rock Bands That Made Songs Specifically For Movies
4. New Perspective - Panic at the Disco
With all of the years of hindsight, it’s safe to say that not many fans really knew what to do with the film Jennifer’s Body. While the marketing tended to just focus on the sex appeal of Megan Fox the entire time, fans were actually treated to a fairly decent horror movie that had a lot more passion behind it than just getting tween kids in the seats. Even though the marketing may have been botched a little bit, they definitely knew how to make the soundtrack work.
Bringing in some of the best in the world of pop punk and emo, everyone who was making waves in the scene at the time got a place on the track listing, including people like All Time Low and Florence and the Machine. In between some of the more melodramatic bands, we were also treated to the first song by Panic at the Disco after losing core member Ryan Ross, and the results were electric. As much as Ryan’s influence played into every song that they wrote, this had the same amount of punch that came from the Pretty. Odd. version of Panic, with a chord progression that sounded like it was better suited to a long lost Beatles song than your traditional pop punk band.
For a movie that’s all about horror going down in high school though, it’s actually a pretty decent fit for the movie as well, as Brendon Urie sells the idea of living life from a much different light. Most of high school already feels like the end of the world anyway, so you may as well have songs like this that are much more optimistic for the future.
