10 Rock Bands That Quit At The Top
3. The Beatles
The Beatles' are one of the few rock bands that never really struck out all that often. Though there are definitely some projects that are better than others, there's still a massive amount of classic material on every single album they released, from A Hard Day's Night to The White Album. However, all good things have to come to an end eventually.
With John Lennon and Paul McCartney already at odds after the completion of the White Album, McCartney's vision to get the group back on the same page led to disaster with the Get Back project. Though this resulted in some of the band's greatest late-period songs, they each decided to go their separate ways, with Lennon flat-out threatening to leave the band. Then again, the Fabs didn't want to leave their audience on such a sour note.
Going back into the studio for one last ride, their final days in the studio resulted in Abbey Road, which became one of the greatest highlights of the late '60s. Compared to the strained relationships of albums past, this was the sound of four musicians getting reacquainted with each other for what may very well be the final time they play music together. While John, Paul, George, and Ringo each went onto success in their solo careers, it still doesn't seem like the world was ready for these lads from Liverpool to pack it in.
