10 Rock Bands That Released 2 Masterpiece Albums In A Row
1. The Beatles
As the '60s started to become the decade we know today, the Beatles' fame was getting a bit too much for anyone to handle. Since there was no way to contain the crowds' screams, the Fab Four would often find themselves just playing for the hell of it, with no one hearing a word outside of the first few rows. They may have abandoned the road in '66, but this was just the beginning of their experimental period.
Although Rubber Soul hinted at some more adult themes on the horizon, Revolver was where everything started to take shape, with the band immersing themselves in psychedelic rock and making songs that were totally distinct from everything else on the radio, like Paul McCartney's Eleanor Rigby or the headtrip of John Lennon's Tomorrow Never Knows.
After finally being forced off the road after a gig in Candlestick Park, Macca hit on a perfect idea of creating a fictional band, with Sgt. Peppers becoming the go to album for the Summer of Love. Along with amazing trips into Indian music courtesy of George Harrison, this pseudo concept album ushered in new styles as well as bringing the idea of high art into the picture on songs like A Day In the Life. More than anything though, these two albums announced the next phase of the '60s. Rock and roll may have had its time in the clubs, but this is where things were about to get a lot more serious.
