10 Rock Bands That Survived Major Line-Up Changes
3. Oasis
Whenever people talk about Oasis, 99% percent of the time the attention goes to the Gallagher Brothers. The sibling rivalry between Noel and Liam Gallagher has been well-documented throughout the years, but the band's tumultuous lineup has helped lead this band through many years of rock and roll debauchery.
From the very beginning, the band's lineup was rounded out by guitarist "Bonehead" Arthurs and bassist "Guigsy" McGuigan. Though the band had a bit of a rough patch finding drummers, the band finally hit upon the right guy when Alan White joined their ranks. After the band's disastrous album Be Here Now came out in 1997, both Arthurs and McGuigan parted ways with the group. While neither wrote the songs, Noel has been very vocal about their involvement as being the true spirit of Oasis.
Though the brothers initially made their 2001 album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants on their own with White, the band had new life once Gem Archer and Andy Bell joined in. Since both Bell and Archer were songwriters, the band were also able to reach for new sounds that were outside of Noel's typical songwriting tropes. The Gallaghers may be the true face of the band, but Oasis's ability to thrive has always come from the stellar musicians that have been working with Noel and Liam.
