10 Rock Bands Who Only Have One Original Member Left

1. Nine Inch Nails

At the start of the '90s, the term industrial rock didn't really have a set name yet. Though you did see the darker sides of electronica coming from acts like Depeche Mode at the time, we were a long way from acts like Ministry and Filter that would come later. If you want to see who really kicked everything into high gear, it was Nine Inch Nails....specifically Trent Reznor.

On the surface, the pieces are all there for NIN to be an actual proper band, and yet it always comes back to Reznor at the end of the day. Ever since starting out, Reznor has been the real captain of thid industrial metal beast, with the other people around him functioning as extensions of his warped musical vision. Though we have seen some more than competent people on NIN records like Richard Patrick and Dave Grohl in later years, there's not one note that is played that Reznor hasn't had some sort of involvement in ever since.

Then again, it's not like his creative intuition is necessarily wrong, given that albums like the Fragile and the Downward Spiral are outright classics for both the industrial rock genre and metal as a whole. Regardless of whatever musical score he might be involved in in later years, when it comes to Nine Inch Nails, all roads lead back to Trent Reznor.
