10 Rock Bands Who Only Have One Original Member Left
7. Foo Fighters
Over the years, the Foo Fighters feel more and more like some crazy rock and roll family. From the goofy onstage antics between the set to the way they are in interviews, there's definitely a group dynamic that is far more down to earth than your usual glitzy rock stars. Though everyone is able to shine on their respective instruments, there's no denying that Dave Grohl is the head hancho.
A lot of people tend to forget that before the days of My Hero and Learn to Fly, the Foo Fighters weren't even thought of as a proper band. For most of the first record, Grohl was practically a one-man band, playing all of the instruments on songs that he wrote in between being in Nirvana. Once the actual record started to pick up some steam though, Grohl set about setting up a band around him. While the start was a bit shaky, the classic lineup eventually started to congeal once Taylor Hawkins and Nate Mendel were brought out of other veteran acts like Alanis Morrissette and Sunny Day Real Estate.
Even some of the old dogs like Pat Smear have found a spot in the group in later years, after quitting in the late '90s after getting plagued by burnout. Dave might be the guy that everyone likes to focus on, but this kind of dynamic shows that he's just as comfortable when he has good players around him.
