10 Rock Bands Who Sold Out (But We Love Them Anyway)

8. Alice Cooper

Alice Cooper - the mere mention of his name was once enough to send shivers down the spine of anyone who voted Republican.

The King of Shock Rock would astound and horrify audiences with his bombastic live shows, often incorporating elements of gothic horror into his stage presentation. This was reflected in his music too, which often dealt with themes of the occult.

All of this was whilst Alice was performing with his band, which were also confusingly called Alice Cooper. But what happened when he went solo?

Well...

Whilst he did keep to the heavier side sometimes, Mr. Cooper also wanted to try his hand at some other forms of music.

Whilst there's nothing wrong with experimenting, was anyone really that keen on Alice Cooper doing hair metal? Or art rock?

Thankfully, the man is so important to the history of heavy rock that it's impossible to hate him.

Without Alice, metal would look completely different than it does today. His position as one of the most valuable figures in the story of rock means that he will always be cherished, even if he does love golf more than music these days.
