10 Rock Bands Without Any Original Members Left

3. Thin Lizzy

Whether they were heading back into town, breaking out of jail, or filling a jar with a certain alcoholic spirit, Irish band Thin Lizzy always knew how to have a good time.

Though keyboard player Erix Wrixon was present for their first single, The Farmer, he'd gone by the time the band's first album was released. That left drummer Brian Downey, guitarist Eric Bell, and bassist/charismatic frontman Phil Lynott left on the bill.

Bell parted ways with the Lizz in 1973, never to return, and was eventually superseded by the classic guitar pairing of Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson.

Downey made it all the way to the end of the band's first tenure in 1983 and has returned for sporadic reunions ever since, but, as of 2013, he has not been an official member.

That leaves Lynott, whose mounting drug issues were the cause of that break in '83. Alas, these dalliances caught up with the star three years later, as he died in 1986.

Even without their main attraction, Thin Lizzy have found a way to carry on, even if they're not quite the same as you remember them.
