10 Rock Bands Without Any Original Members Left

4. Pantera

Before morphing into the hard-hitting, groove metal gods they were in their prime, Pantera were a very run-of-the-mill hair metal act, which goes to show that even rock music deities made bad choices from time to time.

At the heart of both iterations of the band were the Abbot brothers, "Dimebag" Darrell and Vinnie Paul. With Darrell on guitar and Vinnie on drums, they were the driving force behind Pantera during its embarrassing early life and were the ones who helped pull it out of the mud and create the tour de force fans recognise today.

The original Pantera singer, Donny Hart, didn't even make it to the first album. He was followed by a procession of disappointments, before the band finally struck gold by hiring Phil Anselmo in 1986. Original bassist Tommy Bradford also vanished prior to their first release, with current bass man Rex Brown taking his spot.

Sadly, with both Abbots no longer on this mortal plain, any chance of a truly original Pantera reunion are gone with them.
