10 Rock Cover Songs Better Than The Original

4. "Centerfold" By J. Geils Band – Covered By [spunge]

The original version of this song is definitely a product of its era, being a 1981 release it sounds like every other song in the 80’s, and to me does not stick out as strongest song from that era, but nonetheless it is still an enjoyable 80’s pop song. Sounding more like an Oingo Boingo song than anything that would really stick out as having its own sound or style.

Fast Forward to 2013 and the release of the Greatest Hits Album by [spunge]. Channeling a more 90’s era pop punk/ska sound [spunge] took this song from sounding like any other song rehashed from the 80’s and ended up with a cover that sounds like it should be part of every 90’s and 00’s playlist.

By pulling inspiration from the sound of bands like The Offspring and Zebrahead, [spunge] gave the world a much more enjoyable version of this song.
