10 Rock & Metal Bands That Still Have All Their Original Members
8. Motley Crue
If there was any genre that was meant to have disposable members, it should have been hair metal.
Hell, most of the time it came down more to how much hairspray you could put in your hair than how well you could actually play your instrument. And yet Motley Crue have been one of the few acts from the Sunset Strip who managed to keep things rolling up until the end.
That's not to say that there hasn't been some rocky moments throughout their career. Just a listen to something like the self-titled record without Vince Neil or the album New Tattoo without Tommy Lee will tell you that there's no replacing anybody in this band. Even though those records still have their fans, there's a certain magic that comes when everyone is playing off of their strengths, with Tommy Lee's uncanny sense of rhythm blending in perfectly with the way Mick Mars commands the guitar riffs.
On the surface, the idea of a band like the Crue making it more than a few days out in the wild feels like it should be impossible. With over 30 years under their belt though, it looks like the band of brothers got the last laugh on their haters. It may be the most dysfunctional family in rock and roll, but it's a family nonetheless.
