Outside of the fields of metal and alternative rock, the most timeless forms of rock and roll feel like the natural extension of the music from the Mississippi Delta like Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf. Though there are always pitfalls for every blues rock act, ZZ Top never forgot that the blues is a brotherhood.

Up until Dusty Hill's untimely death a little while ago, ZZ Top never changed their lineup and always could be counted on for some of the tastiest blues licks this side of Jimi Hendrix. Despite turning in a few corny music videos back in the '80s, this is the kind of music that's never going to go out of style, with Billy Gibbons being an absolute master behind his six string.

Even with as much road work they had under their belt, a lot of people forget that this sound is only made by 3 people, with the luscious beardos Gibbons and Hill leading and drummer Frank Beard providing the trademark swing that keeps everything rooted to the ground.

With Dusty now playing up there with the rest of the blues legends, only time will tell if ZZ Top will ride again without him.
