10 Rock Songs Ripped Off From Other Songs

8. Warning - Green Day

At the start of the '00s, Green Day were a much different band than who we got to know on Dookie. The latchkey kids who talked about the pros and cons of masturbation had started to mature into their elder statesmen phase. Though going the folk rock direction wasn't a bad move by any stretch, it was a bit ill advised to take the classic rock worship this far on Warning.

Granted, the song itself is among one of Green Day's most interesting, talking about the overprotective nature that you get everywhere you go. When you strip down the bassline though, the whole thing bares an odd resemblance to the Kinks' song Picture Book. Don't believe me? For any of the guitar players out there, by all means play these back to back and tell me you don't notice anything just the slightest bit similar between the two.

The Kinks didn't bother to lawyer up on this one though, which at least gave Billie Joe Armstrong a little more wiggle room to play with his classic rock fandom in the future. Take this as a note, current bands. These are the exceptions to the rules...other artists may not be as kind when the lawsuits come a-calling.
