10 Rock Songs That Artists Didn't Want To Record

2. Revolution 9 - The Beatles

For all of the brilliance that the Beatles have given us over the years, their self-titled White Album is a bit of a scattered mess. While there are classics laced throughout every side of this double album experience, it's clear that the Fab Four were starting to grow apart, with each song feeling like glorified solo material that just has the Beatles moniker tacked onto the album sleeve. Though each of the Fabs had the utmost respect for each other's music, Revolution 9 definitely touches a sore spot.

Already fresh off of the caustic Revolution from the Hey Jude single, The White Album featured two other passes at John Lennon's call to arms. Whereas the first one is a breezy acoustic jam, this experimental avant garde piece done with Yoko Ono did end up causing some tension within the group. Though George Harrison had worked on the final mix of the experimental track, Paul McCartney didn't want anything to do with it, insisting that they leave it off the album.

However, the seniority prevailed, leaving Revolution 9 as one of the most notorious tracks to ever have the Beatles name associated with it. This song is definitely a trip for what it is, but it feels much more suited to one of the experimental albums that John Lennon and Yoko Ono did together rather than a fully-fledged track from one of the greatest bands of all time.
