10 Rock Songs That Have Obvious Mistakes In Them
7. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
By the end of the Dark Side of the Moon tour cycle, most of Pink Floyd had been exhausted both physically and emotionally. Not only did they have to work to make one of the most ambitious projects of their career, but they also made it to the top of the world without their core member Syd Barrett with them, having already begun to lose his sanity a few albums before. You wouldn't blame them for being a bit tired, but why does it have to show up on the actual record?
Though the title track of the record is supposed t be one of the emotional high points of the project, the beginning guitar line starts to sound a bit strange when you actually listen to the rest of the mix. In between David Gilmour's gorgeous guitar figures introducing the song, you can also hear a man doing some heavy breathing in the background, which could easily be taken as the singer trying to compose himself to sing a song to his lost friend.
That's if you were being artistic though. In reality, most of those heavy breathing grunts were actually from Roger Waters, who had a history of smoking cigarettes at this point and had trouble catching his breath while they were doing the basic tracks of this song. It may have given the final version of the song a bit of character, but Roger had also said that he considered quitting the habit cold turkey after he heard what he had done by accident.
