10 Rock Songs That Have Obvious Mistakes In Them
5. Cynical - Blink-182
Part of the appeal of almost every Blink-182 album is the amount of humor sprinkled throughout everything. For every great song like First Date or Stay Together For the Kids touching on slightly more serious subjects, there were always songs like Happy Holidays You Bastard and Dysentery Gary to lighten up the mood. We were dealing with something different on the first record without Tom Delonge though, and Cynical kicked down the door with a joke by the band's quietest member.
If you ever see different conversations with the band in interviews, you wouldn't really be able to catch any more than a few words out of Travis Barker, just looking to absolutely murder his kit and then lay low in the background. Despite being one of the modern day drumming gods, Cynical features one of the rare times where Travis actually screwed up, and it was much better than anything else he could have played.
Just before the band properly kicks in, there are a few chord hits as Travis storms out of the gate with drum fills, only to screw up the final one and yell in frustration on the tape. Then again, that was probably the best foot forward that you could ask for after going through a shakeup like that. Blink was going in some new directions, but that sense of internal angst and frustration was still accounted for.
