10 Rock Songs That Took Shots At Other Artists
1. Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac
Considering how much internal baggage that Fleetwood Mac was going through in the late '70s, it's practically a miracle that an album like Rumours even exists these days. During most of the recording sessions for these records, the band had devolved into a walking soap opera most of the time, with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks separating as well as John and Christine McVie getting divorced as they were trying to write their masterpiece. Then again, the only way that they were able to actually work together was to leave all of their emotions in their songs.
From the first handful of Stevie's tracks, she seems to be taking the high road most of the time, with Dreams trying to wish Lindsey peace as he tries to weather the storm by himself. Lindsey was doing just fine though, with Go Your Own Way being one of the most hooky songs on the album while also pointing just how glad he is to be apart from Stevie these days.
Though you can tell that the romantic flame is still there for Lindsey, he is absolutely vicious on this track, saying that Stevie will never be accepting of his love and that all she wants to do is shack up with the next person she sees. That musical chain may have kept them together through the years, but writing lyrics like this couldn't have made the band meetings any less uncomfortable.
