10 Rock Songs That Waited Years Before Being Released

7. All Around the World - Oasis

Throughout every single era of Oasis, Noel Gallagher never minces words about how he thinks about his own music. Ever since the first release of Definitely Maybe, Noel has maintained that he is a member of the greatest band in the world, with songs that were bound to become classics from the minute that you heard them. If all of that’s true, then why did we have to wait so long for All Around the World?

Even though this was released on Be Here Now, this was actually the first song that Noel had ever written for Oasis, including footage where you can see them working it out in a dingy rehearsal room before they had recorded anything. This had potential to become something much bigger, and Noel put it in his back pocket for years before actually having the budget to realize his vision fully. Now on top of the world with some of the biggest studios at his disposal, Noel turned All Around the World into one of the most excessive songs of the ‘90s, running over 9 minutes not counting for a reprise of the song that finishes off the record at the end.

It may be considered a bit too much by some mainstream audiences, but Oasis didn’t have to worry about the critics’ opinions for one second. They had become as big as they had desired to be, and this was their response to the Beatles’ Hey Jude that was going to set the world on fire.
