10 Rock Songs That Were Written As A Joke
2. F*ck a Dog - Blink-182
Over the course of their career, Blink-182 practically have a second life as comedians rather than musicians. In addition to some of the more charming pop punk tunes from back in the day like All the Small Things, you also had Dysentery Gary talking about a kid getting diarrhea and Happy Holidays You Bastard one album later. As if the album title Take Off Your Pants and Jacket wasn’t a good enough clue, the bonus tracks are where the fun comes out.
Breaking out the acoustic guitar for one of the last times on the record, this feels like a laid back breezy song until Tom DeLonge starts to talk about getting a little bit freaky with a dog, all while Mark Hoppus does some dopey comedic accents in the background, including one where he starts to sound like a pirate talking about all the other people he wants to fornicate with.
Though songs like Stay Together for the Kids definitely hold up a lot better in retrospect, the whole feel of this song with everyone singing along almost feels like some messed up sea shanty, as you find yourself singing along to this dopey tune about beastiality. The song is catchy as hell…just be careful who catches you singing it though.
