10 Rock Stars That Almost Died On The Road

Anyone who goes through a traditional Guns N Roses tour really needs to know what they're getting themselves into. Aside from half of the band wanting to murder Axl Rose when they went on the Use Your Illusion tour, having different lavish parties and Axl just deciding not to show up at all for gigs led to them getting a nasty reputation, with more than a few gigs ending in riots when the crowd was cheapened out of a decent show. That kind of lifestyle is going to get to you, and Slash's self medicating was bound to hit a brick wall at some point.

Being hooked on heroin and drinking constantly throughout the day before shows, Slash didn't even make it to the stage for soundcheck before collapsing in the middle of a hallway in a hotel. After one of the roadies went upstairs to check on him, Slash was practically DOA, having virtually no pulse and having a paramedic revive him with a shot of adrenaline right into his chest.

Then again, everyone seemed to have some wounds from this tour once everything finally wrapped up, from Izzy Stradlin quitting halfway through and being replaced by Gilby Clarke to Duff MacKagan's pancreas exploding because of how much damage he had done to it over the course of the tour. It may have been one of the biggest parties of all time while it lasted, but once everyone got back to Los Angeles at the end of things, it was clear that the original Guns N Roses probably died midway through the tour cycle.
