10 Rock Supergroups You Had No Idea Existed

8. Chickenfoot

If you're wondering where the name Chickenfoot comes from, then hold on, cos it's a fun story.

Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony says that it came from a jam session featuring him, Sammy Hagar, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Anthony said that the name came about because there are three talons on the foot of a chicken and there were three of them there that night. Not sure why that was the first thing that came to mind, but there you go.

Things got more confusing when they added legendary guitarist Joe Satriani to the mix, bringing the total members of the group up to four. By that point though, the name had stuck, so Chickenfoot it was.

This hard rock group has released two albums - Chickenfoot, and Chickenfoot III.

Man, these guys just can't do numbers, can they?

In 2016, Smith stated that he was doubtful over the band's future due to its members' conflicting schedules. Sadly, he seems to have been right, as the group has been inactive ever since.

Hopefully they've spent all this time coming up with a better name.
