10 Rock Supergroups You Had No Idea Existed

3. Tinted Windows

We've had some fairly odd combinations thus far, but this one really takes the biscuit.

Tinted Windows was a supergroup that was formed in 2009 by Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha. For his new rock project, he called on the services of Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne, Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick, and Taylor Hanson... of Hanson.

You know, the MMMBop guys. Clearly the exact sort of person someone involved with Bullet with Butterfly Wings was after.

This absolutely bonkers combination ran for about two years, playing various concerts and putting out a single album in that time. The self-titled release landed the band a spot on the Late Show with David Letterman, but this wasn't enough to propel it any higher than 59 on the US charts.

Critics derided its lack of scope, claiming that four musicians of this quality should have been able to do better. Once again, the guy from Hanson was on this record! What did you want?

Despite fading away, Tinted Windows remain one of the oddest supergroups to ever grace the world of music and our lives are all the richer for knowing they existed.
