10 Rock Supergroups You Had No Idea Existed

4. Deep End

Pete Townshend... oh dear.

The guitarist for British rockers The Who is notable for more than just shredding, as an incident involving the Metropolitan police in 2003 will tell you.

We won't go over it here, but look it up if you're interested.

Instead, let's focus on his music career, more specifically that time he teamed up with David Gilmour from Pink Floyd to form the band Deep End.

The group also featured members of jazz fusion group RMS, new wave pioneer Thomas Dolby's band, and the blues rock duo Medicine Head. They famously put on two concerts at London's Brixton Academy in 1985 - famous because there were meant to be three of them, but one got cancelled because of poor ticket sales.

People didn't want to turn out to see members of The Who and Pink Floyd? The 80s, what a time to be alive.

They managed to squeeze two separate CDs of these shows, as well as another release of a solitary appearance on German television from the following year. Deep End might not have sold tickets, but you have to admire that level of hustle.
