10 Rockstars That Hate You For Liking Their Music
7. John Frusciante - Red Hot Chili Peppers
When you take on the life of a rock star, things can move relatively quickly. After all, all it takes is being in the right place at the right time for you to go from a miniscule bar band to one of the biggest names in modern music. It's almost like a game, and it was one that John Frusciante did not understand all that well.
Upon first signing on to be the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Frusciante had no real aspirations to be a rich rock star all that quickly, thinking the Peppers would be an insane California band for the rest of their lives. Once Blood Sugar Sex Magik started gaining traction though, the constant barrage of interviews and press started to weight on Frusciante a lot, leading him to turn to heroin to soothe his pain. Things even took a few dark turns on the live stage, including one horrific appearance on SNL where Frusciante retreated to the corner of the stage and hardly looked up throughout the performance.
After coming to a head before a show in Japan, Frusciante quit the band and went into hermit like seclusion before signing back on for Californication almost half a decade later. As he sets up to be part of the Chili Peppers again at the time of writing, it seems that Frusciante has been the resident genius who only joins the Funky Monks at the right time.
