10 Scariest Albums Ever Made
9. Walk Among Us - The Misfits
Post punk may have been the more off-putting genre, but that didn't mean that punk couldn't get scary as well.
After the first wave of punk swept culture with the Ramones and the Clash, bands were popping up left and right trying to take the sound one step further. It's one thing to speed up the tempo, but the Misfits traded in songs about being bored for something much more sinister.
At just under a half hour, Walk Among Us is ground zero for everything that is horror punk, with songs that are packed to the brim with dread. Clad in face paint and over the top styles, these guys had more horrific imagery in their lyrics and presentation than a band like KISS could ever muster, whether it's on the space ride from Hell on "Teenagers From Mars" or the live stomper version of "Mommy Can I Go Out and Kill Tonight?."
The lyrics are already powerful on their own, but Glenn Danzig is the one who really takes these tunes over the top, living up to his moniker as the demonic punk version of Elvis Presley. This album might go by in a flash, but what it actually has to say will chill you to the bone.
