10 Scottish Bands You Need To Listen To
1. Twin Atlantic
Already supporting the likes of Circa Survive and MewithoutYou before they even recorded their first EP by the end of 2007, Glasgow-based alt rock group Twin Atlantic quickly gained a following for their feel-good early hits 'Lightspeed' and the euphoric 'A Guidance From Colour' - both of which featured on their debut album Vivarium.
From then the band only began to gain more traction. In their early years alone, they supported Biffy Clyro, Smashing Pumpkins, 30 Seconds To Mars, Blink 182, and All American Rejects in addition to playing major festivals T In The Park, RockNess, and Warped Tour. And they were just getting started.
With the release of their subsequent albums, the trio's popularity continued to go. Feel good fan-favourites 'Heart And Soul' and 'Brothers And Sisters' from their third album Great Divide remain their highest charted tracks with 'No Sleep' from the follow-up (GLA) being dubbed BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record Of The Year.
Like all talented musicians, Twin Atlantic's have continued to evolve their music over the years. Their latest album Power, for example, is heavily influenced by the dance music of Glasgow's nightlife (exemplified best in 'Novocaine'). However, their signature, soulful rock sound still shines through.
