10 Severely Underrated Grunge Albums

5. Love Battery - Dayglo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX5wtEmwR5k Love Battery are a curious beast in the annals of grunge. Their potential was undeniable in 1992 when the group released their ultimate contribution to the scene - the starry eyed powerhouse Dayglo. However, despite being caught in the midst of a landmark time for the genre, Love Battery actually fell victim to an overcrowded bevy of Seattle-based rockers all vying to be the next big thing. Shame too, because Dayglo is one of the most creative and downright majestic albums to come out of the grunge era bar none. Their stylistic roots lie somewhere between the Beatles and Nirvana, a heady musical mix of dreamy highs and overdriven lows that gracefully showed that the genre didn't just have to be all doom and gloom. Filler is literally nonexistent on this gem. From the bombastically anthemic opener 'Out Of Focus' to the disorientating, feedback-drenched 'Damaged' and the spidery title track, Dayglo keeps up a level of consistency that can match even the best of the genre. It's a little understated to begin with, but give this one a few listens and its hypnotic rhythms will attach to the membrane in all sorts of wonderful ways.
