4. Tad - Inhaler
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKDDhryirfs Tad epitomised everything that was grunge, producing a sound that was an authentic portrayal of the genre, encapsulating the natural songwriting ability prominent in the leaders of the movement. Their gift to the grunge gods was the 1993 powerhouse, Inhaler. Inhaler certainly veers more towards the heavy metal side of grunge, especially on songs like the barrier breaking 'Luminol', or the bass-heavy pulveriser 'Ulcer', providing the perfect fodder for vocalist Tad Doyle to vent over. Tad's musicianship is really what keeps this battered tank in forward motion with songs like the blunt rock-hammer 'Just Bought The Farm' or the slinking backstabber 'Rotor' threatening to cave in the whole foundations at several points. Inhaler is a broken, scarred beast that refuses to be put down before collapsing fatally on the one-two punch outro, the devilishly riff-tastic 'Pansy' and the resigned jangler 'Gouge', rounding out a quality record that hits all the right spots.
