10 Singers Who HATE Their Own Songs

7. Lorde - Royals

Released back in the summer of 2013, Royals received widespread critical acclaim, peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks, sold over 10 million digital copies, and won the Grammy awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Despite such massive success, however, the then-17-year-old singer didn't have very nice things to say about it in less than a year after it released.

According to various reports, Lorde said in an interview with Britain's Daily Record newspaper that she thought her version of the song sounded "horrible" after listening to others cover it.

It sounds like a ringtone from a 2006 Nokia. None of the melodies are cool or good. It's disastrous. Awful... but for the same reason, in the context of the way I released it, it just worked out.

Granted, this was all the way back in 2014, so her feelings may or may not have changed since then.
