10 Songs That Emotionally DESTROYED Artists
6. Don't Go Away - Oasis
On first glance, it looks like nothing phases either of the Gallagher Brothers. Rather than just hammer things out on each other, these guys would have a go at pretty much anyone who would stand in their way, whether it's their rivals in the charts or someone who disapproves of the music they make. Every bad boy does have a sensitive side though, and Noel Gallagher hit on something that was too much for Liam on Be Here Now.
While most of this record is known these days as where Oasis lost the plot, Don’t Go Away is a very sweet song about wanting to be with the one you love. After taking a couple of passes in Abbey Road Studios though, Liam went down to sing the main vocal of the song and had to hold back tears while he was singing.
Thinking of his mother at the time, most of this song almost reads like Liam trying to keep his mother close to him even though the tabloid circus wanted to put these bad boys in a box. Since the Gallaghers had to face scorn and abuse from their father, their mother was one of the only constants in their lives, and Liam is just making sure he has that stability even at the top of the world. Noel may write the songs, but it takes someone like Liam to deliver a vocal like this.
