10 Songs That End On Really Depressing Notes
8. So Far Away - Avenged Sevenfold
Some artists, like Adele, you'd expect depressing songs from, however where some of the most emotional songs come from would perhaps surprise you. Avenged Sevenfold, one of the biggest names in metal, grew to fame and popularity with their thrashing, fast paced, wailing guitars, but So Far Away is a wonderfully emotional tribute to their fallen brother.
In 2009, Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan, the drummer of Avenged Sevenfold tragically lost his life at the age of just 28. Naturally, this had a huge affect on the band and the music they would immediately produce. On their fifth studio album, Nightmare, the band released So Far Away, as tribute to their band mate and close friend.
Stripped back from their usual material, the emotional feel of the song can be felt from the very first strum of the guitar, through to the very end. With lead singer M. Shadows screaming for his friend that is so far away from him, there is so much that he wants to tell him, but he knows that he'll never be able to.
