10 Songs That Have More Than One Music Video

7. In Bloom - Nirvana

The history of the Nirvana song In Bloom is more complicated than you might expect.

The song had existed in one form or another since 1990 before it was re-recorded and included as part of the band's second album Nevermind. This chaotic backstory is reflected in the two versions of the song's video.

The more famous visual accompaniment for the record parodies one of the great moments in American pop culture history.

Nirvana appear on an Ed Sullivan-style talk show, dressed up like the bands of that time period. However, as this is Nirvana we're talking about, things soon devolve into madness as the band change into dresses and start smashing things up.

It's a great video, but it is not the original one for this song.

That video, called the "alternate version" even though it came first, was filmed over two years before the Sullivan spoof. It's so old that it's even got original drummer Chad Channing in it.

A mixture of performance footage and the trio pratting about, the alternate version is nowhere near as good as its more famous counterpart. Still, it serves as an interest artefact from one of rock's most enigmatic forces.
