10 Songs That Saved Rock And Roll

8. She Loves You - The Beatles

Any cursory mention of the Beatles' impact on the music world probably couldn't be broken down to just one entry on an Internet rock list. Suffice to say, these four guys from Liverpool are kind of a big deal ever since they kickstarted the British Invasion in the early '60s. If you had to condense it down into one song to show their impact, She Loves You makes for a pretty immediate listen.

As much as some songs like A Day in the Life or even the medley from Abbey Road show what the Beatles can do, She Loves You has everything you could want in the Beatles' work. While still being in their mop top prime, there is a lot more going than your traditional rock song, with odd chord changes and vocal harmonies that showed just how much could be done with the rock genre beyond the Chuck Berry-isms.

Also, this works as a great standard for how the British Invasion officially got started. As rock started to become stagnant and our heroes were either dying out or burning out, it took these four guys to show us the way forward. Rock wasn't going to be a product of the times anymore...it was going to be here for a long time.
